Why St. Joseph’s School

  • I love St. Joe's because we are truly a big family. The small class sizes allow us to really get to know one another. Before I came to St. Joe's, I didn't get that family- like atmosphere. From my first day in second grade, everybody has been so welcoming. Coming to school each day is like coming to home to my second family. I don't ever dread coming to school because I know that all the students and teachers care about me and that we'll have a fun and educational day!

  • St. Joe's is a wonderful school. Because of the teachers I have met all of my closest friends here and it is also awesome because we are all so close as we grow up together. I met my 2 best friends here, in kindergarten. And now I have all of me new friends too. We are all so close, we could be recognized as a family!

  • I love St. Joe's because of the family atmosphere. I love the students here, and the teachers. I can not imagine my life without St. Joe's in it, and to know that I have to leave St. Joe's in a month, breaks my heart. I even love the building itself, because it is comfortable and it makes me feel safe.

  • I love the friendly, and Christlike atmosphere around St. Joe's. Since the first day I came to St. Joe's I noticed how friendly and welcoming everyone was.

  • At St. Joseph’s School, my kids are safe, valued, loved, and cared for. The school knows my kids and teaches to my children’s strengths and weaknesses, helping my kids succeed year after year. There is no getting lost in the shuffle at St. Joe's.

  • St. Joseph’s School loves and cares about my kids like I do. That is priceless. My children will be better adults because of St. Joe’s.

  • In the last seven years, St. Joseph’s School has literally been our second ‘family.’ During some of the most crucial years of a child are being formed, I have seen an above and beyond commitment from the faculty and staff. Each child knows they are important.

  • St. Joseph’s School is like a giant family. Every person with a child there is convinced of the quality education their child is getting. While the academics are outstanding, I can't begin to imagine what my children's lives would be like without the reinforcement of our Catholic faith they receive every day. St. Joseph’s School is teaching my children that in their everyday lives their faith is something they can partner with, not put away and use on the weekend.

  • One of my favorite things about this school is how close I’ve gotten to all of my classmates, and how we have become like a family.

  • The service projects we have participated in at St. Joe’s have helped me be more aware of the needs of other people in the world and how I can help. This will help me in the future because it shows me what I’m capable of doing to help those in need.

  • St. Joseph’s has prepared me for my future because the teachers never let us give up on things. They push us to be the best we can possibly be. The students are also encouraging and friendly.

  • I have been a St. Joseph’s Saint since I was four years old. It has been a very enjoyable eleven years at St. Joe’s. I have learned a lot about our faith and service. One of my favorite service projects through the years was going to the food bank and storing food for those who need it. This has prepared me to be a very kind person in the future and to help all those who truly need it. It has always been fun at St. Joe’s, no matter when or where! I have enjoyed all the things I have learned through the years and all the great people I have met.

  • “You know you have an amazing school and even more amazing teachers/faculty/staff/administration when [on the last day of school] your child comes through the front door in tears... she will miss giving hugs to all her teachers. Thank you to EVERYONE that made this year an outstanding one!”

  • We are so blessed to be a part of St. Joe’s. People ask us why we take our kids all the way over to Moorhead from South Fargo because they view it as “not convenient.” My response is always that a good education is worth the drive and any inconvenience is wiped away by all the benefits from the school, community and educational perks!

  • Our daughter loves the Summer Program.  Every day she would come home and tell us about the fun things they did and looked forward to what the next day would bring.  The different themes each week really kept her engaged and excited to be there.  It has been great to see her learn from a variety of activities in a fun and safe environment.  She has learned how to become a good friend by “filling other kids’ buckets,” and not just be interested in herself.  She loves the different field trips like going to the pool, the museum, the Red Hawks, or the public library.  As parents, we appreciate the structure and organization Mrs. Fulton provides; she genuinely cares about the children.  The St. Joseph’s Summer Program is definitely something we recommend to other families.

  • Our son has enjoyed the Summer Program very much. He enjoys the well thought out activities, and he talks about the different opportunities (field trips, activities, learning events) he has. The Summer Program keeps our son engaged and provides the consistency that he needs during the summer months. Our son is a hands on and interactive kid. He enjoys the activities that incorporate learning and loves to be involved as he learns new things. The Summer Program provides him many of these great opportunities. Mrs. Fulton has been great to work with, and we feel that she provides a good level of consistency and discipline within her program. As a parent, it is a great feeling to know that when your child is under the care and supervision of Mrs. Fulton, that he is safe.

  • [My wife] Stacy and I are very thankful St. Joseph School provides the Summer Program. We were concerned our daughter would not be stimulated and "bored" in a typical daycare setting. St. Joseph's Summer Program provides an exciting itinerary and list of venues that would be difficult to experience as a family. Our daughter still talks about all the fun she had last summer and can't wait for this year's program to start.

  • Our kids are always talking about what they did that was new and exciting during the Summer Program.  We can tell they enjoy it because they are always excited to share their stories! The educational tours and field trips have been wonderful.  The kids have gone places and done things in the Fargo-Moorhead area that we didn't even know existed. There are so many neat things about the summer program.  One of the coolest things they remember was a “life-sized” version of a board game that they played in the gym.  The kids really enjoy the field trips to museums, etc. and always come home with exciting and interesting stories.

  • “My children love going to St Joseph's Summer Program. When given the option between St. Joe’s or another summer program this summer both kids preferred St. Joe’s. Last year, both kids enjoyed the themes each week so much that they actually complained when I took them to other activities we had planned. They didn't want to miss all the fun at the Summer Program.”

  • Between the excellent care of our child, and the amazing communication with parents (the newsletter is AWESOME!), we just couldn't be more pleased with sending our son to the Summer Program at St. Joe's.  Even though it's summer, our son is still learning a ton and having lots of fun while doing it!

  • I really have enjoyed life science this year, and I also like social studies because my social teacher makes it easy to understand when it might be a confusing topic. Especially when you don't understand something, he always makes sure you get it.
  • I like learning what we learn because the teachers make learning fun.
  • I love [Faith and Stewardship activities] because it is a way to get closer to God!
  • I really like raising money for other people because it is a way of service and that we can help other people. It always makes me, (and I am very sure many others as well) feel really good when I can help someone or some cause.
  • I feel surrounded by awesome friends.
  • I really like how everybody looks out for each other and how we all get along so well.
  • I feel like no one judges anyone by what sports they're in or what their talents are but just accepts them the way they are.

  • Faith

At St. Joseph’s School, faith comes alive.  Faith is studied for the purpose of making a difference in the world around us.  Faith moves us to prayer, to study of our beliefs and our history, to celebration, and to action.
    • Prayer – Prayer is our ongoing conversation with God.  It enlightens us when the path is dark; helps us when encounter a problem; comforts us in our loneliness; and offers thanks for the gifts, talents, and blessings we have been given.  Students of St. Joseph’s School regularly pray together, joining many voices together in our conversation with the God.
    • Beliefs and History – What we believe as a Catholic-Christian faith community comes from a wonderful history and tradition.  In addition to learning the tenets of our faith, students learn how it came to be and why we believe what we do.  Centered at heart of our belief is our knowledge and love for Christ and good news of the Gospel.
    • Celebration – We are joyous in our faith and regularly celebrate who we are and what we believe through the sacraments.  We also celebrate our faith through a number of student led faith celebrations throughout the school year.
    • Action – At the heart of the Gospel message are the Beatitudes, which St. Joseph’s students put into practice throughout the school year.  Through various service-learning opportunities led by students, St. Joseph’s School students find themselves embodying their school nickname by becoming Saints to others.
  • Leadership

Leadership comes in many different forms. It can be bold and daring, strong and courageous, even and steadfast, humble and quiet, or soft and soothing. Regardless of its form, however, leadership comes from within. Through their education at St. Joseph’s School, students come to know who they are, confident that they are called by God to follow His path. As students grow through the school, they take on more and more responsibility and begin to fill the big shoes that God has readied. St. Joseph’s School seeks to partner with parents to develop leadership within our students such that they are prepared to take on whatever challenge that they encounter with enthusiasm and confidence in their knowledge and faith. • Service

At the heart of service is love for our fellow human being. Nobody loves us more than Christ, which is why he left us with many inspirational lessons, among which are the Beatitudes and the Corporal Works of Mercy. St. Joseph’s School students seek to live out the eight Beatitudes and seven Corporal Works of Mercy during their time as St. Josephs’ School. In following Christ’s words, St. Joseph’s School students learn what it means to be unselfish, repentant, humble, holy, merciful, well-intentioned, peaceful, and persistent in following God’s will. Through service learning opportunities, many of which are led by the students themselves, students put their faith into action, feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, praying for the imprisoned, visiting the sick, praying for the dead, and giving alms to those in need.
